Luka Doncic was invited to the Spanish Colgados del Aro YouTube show, where he talked about a wide range of topics, from how Real Madrid decided to acquire him and Slovenian basketball to the comparisons with legendary Drazen Petrovic and his favorite between…Lebron James and Stephen Curry.

Here’s what the Real Madrid star and potential No. 1 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft said:

On when he discovered that he was good at basketball:

In the tournament that I played in Italy, with Olimpija Ljubljana. I scored many points and grabbed many rebounds. Then Real Madrid called me…

On how important is basketball in Slovenia:

If you are Slovenian, you have to play basketball. After the Eurobasket, even more. Basketball is on the top there“.

On being compared with Drazen Petrovic:

“Drazen Petrovic was amazing. He was a spectacular player. Everyone who knows him says that he was a very good person. I would take almost everything from his game. Especially his three-point shooting. He couldn’t miss. I would take it, for me (laughs).”

On hard work:

It is always important to believe that you can be better. Edy Tavares told me that LeBron James, who is one of the best in the world, spends hours and hours in the gym. You always want to be better“.

On Stephen Curry and LeBron James:

I don’t like to make comparisons, both are incredible. But I would pick LeBron. He can do everything and he is very strong.”

On his friend and former teammate Willy Hernangomez:

I’ve talked to him (Willy). He’s having a bad time, but he keeps working because at some point he will show what he has.”

On which one of his teammates helps the young guys the most:

Felipe Reyes, Rudy Fernandez and Sergio Llull, who is working hard to return, are the ones who help the young people the most“.
