The presence of Simone Pianigiani at the helm of Olimpia Milano was an extra reason that made Curtis Jerrells sign with the team.

Not long after the beginning of the EuroLeague regular season, Olimpia Milano fans saw a familiar face returning to the Forum: Curtis Jerrells.

Jerrells previously wore the Milano jersey in the 2013-2014 season when the “Red Shoes” went to the EuroLeague playoffs and finished the season as Italian champions.

One of the reasons that made the American guard come back to Milan was the presence of coach Simone Pianigiani. The two of them had worked together rather successfully in the Israeli League during 2016-2017, winning the domestic championship and cup titles.

Per Sports Rabbi:

“He (Pianigiani) was one of the reasons I returned, along with many others of course since Milan is like home to me. When he signed for Jerusalem he called me. I knew he was the head coach in Siena when my former Milan coach Luca Banchi was his assistant. So I knew what to expect from him. In Jerusalem, we built the right chemistry right from the beginning because of our mentality and energy. We stayed together and we won.”
