In what turned out to be an offensive show for the Spanish team, Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz blew out Brose Bamberg at home. Coach Luca Banchi and Pedro Martinez commented on the game.
Coach Pedro Martinez talked about not mixing emotions with the game as well as Baskonia‘s position: “Our situation is not ideal. We are eighth. We will fight to finish at least in that position. We should not mix the fans’ emotions with our game. If someone plays a great game, we have to relax.”
On the other hand, coach Luca Banchi, commented on the game, stating that his team needs to find the winning mentality: “Of course, it’s critical that you can compete for no matter of the different goals. We don’t have chances to play in the playoffs. This, however, is not an excuse to give up and to play with no energy, aggressiveness and the wrong attitude. We are a team who needs wins in both the EuroLeague and our national league, a team who needs a winning mentality.”
When asked about Baskonia he said the following: “They are playing great basketball, probably their best this season. Huertas is coming back, and they will become even better. They are doing a great job, Pedro (Martinez) is a great coach, the team is in line with his basketball ideas and philosophy. Of course, I felt that tonight, was an opportunity for our team. We played against one of the best teams in the EuroLeague, a team in better shape.”
