The first half cost dearly to Unicaja Malaga in the game against Bamberg and coach Joan Plaza was aware of it.

Unicaja Malaga suffered a loss in Germany against Brose Bamberg. However, their coach Joan Plaza was proud of his team.

The first thing I will say is that I am proud of my team. To arrive at the last 3,4 games with a chance for the playoffs. That was our goal on the begging of this difficult Euroleague season.  We will try to win the remaining games, but arriving this far talks a lot about my players, my staff and the whole team“, stated Plaza.

The Spanish team didn’t perform well in the first half and coach Plaza didn’t run from it.

The second thing as that is clear that there are two faces of my team. We played horribly in the first halftime. We didn’t defend at all. We changed our face in the second half, but the score from the first half was too heavy for us. We improved our defense, but we had a lot of turnovers in the crucial moments. Bamberg deserved to win the game. We were a very good competitor, especially in the second half. In this Euroleague or you do it 40 minutes in this way or you have nothing to do“, concluded the Spanish coach.

On the other side, Bamberg’s coach Luca Banchi was happy that his team bounced back after a tough loss against Baskonia on Wednesday.

It was an important win. The way we approached the game 48 hours after a bad performance in Vitoria.
The team proved and showed their desire with a great approach. It was hard to keep the same shooting percentage in the second half as we had in the first one.  We found a good continuity in offense and the same energy in defense in the second half. We suffered a little bit too much in rebounding, but Unicaja is the best offensive rebounding team in the Euroleague“, said Banchi.
