It’s probably the most important assist in Vassilis Spanoulis’ career but in the chaos that ensued the celebrations of winning the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague back in 2012, it was never recorded on the stats sheet.
The mistake was corrected and now Olympiacos captain has 1252 career assists. He needs four more in order to be the All-time EuroLeague leader over his former teammate at Panathinaikos and the Greek national team Dimitris Diamantidis.
Even after almost six years, a “mea culpa” was needed.
