In a highly competitive game between two playoffs contenders, Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul prevailed in Moscow against Khimki with 73-64 on Day 29 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

Τhe defending champions were paced by Brad Wanamaker and Nicolo Melli in this road win. Wanamaker finished with 14 points, while the Italian big man registered a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Team work made dream work for the winning squad once again, as James Nunnally also shared 12 points for the winners, followed by Kostas Sloukas‘ 11.

Fenerbahce struggled to get control of the game for 32 minutes, though an outbreak in the final period pushed the deficit to double-digits and helped Obradovic‘s squad keep control until the end. That, combined with Khimki’s difficulty to find score in the last crucial minutes, added up to the win.

The Turkish side managed to keep the hosts in a relatively low score tonight, considering the fact that Khimki averaged 78.2 points prior to tonight’s game.

Despite the loss, it was a historic night for Khimki’s Alexey Shved, who set a new single season record for points scored (the previous one being 609 points by Keith Langford). The Russian guard keeps exceeding his record, as he finished with 19 points and 8 assists tonight.
