The Israeli League reacted to the decision of Maccabi to use two different rosters next season.

Israeli “Winner League” chairman of league administration Schmuel Frankel commented on the radical plan that Maccabi Tel Aviv has decided to implement next season with two separate rosters, one for EuroLeague and the other for domestic games.

Schmuel Frankel’s statement is as follows:

“I think this is a move that will first and foremost hurt Maccabi but can also hurt the league which is why I hope that Maccabi will do some further thinking regarding the matter. As it was also tested in the league administration there are also restrictions being applied in Europe for the number of foreign players allowed etc. and we believe that this is not the reason for Maccabi’s lack of success in Europe in recent years‬.”
