In Game 1 of the Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul – Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz series, Obradovic‘s team came out on top with Bogdan Bogdanovic in attendance.

After the game coach Zeljko Obradovic and Pedro Martinez commented on the game and their respective teams.

The nine-time EuroLeague champ stated the following about the game: “We prepared our team to play against an aggressive basketball team. We talked about defense and also scoring in transition. We played very well and had control of the game. Now we have time to talk about and get ready for Game 2 on Friday. They will continue to play aggressive and so we have to prepare for that. The nine-point victory is not important, what is important is that the series score is 1-0 for us.”

“The atmosphere was excellent, they (fans) also help the team with their support. Thank you to the president, who came to support our team”

Coach Zeljko Obradovic was also asked about Fenerbahce‘s defense: “We tried to play the best defense possible. It is very important to try and stop the best features in their game (offense). They like to play in transition, the big guys can run the court, they have good players that always push the ball, shooters that can shoot in the transition. Moreover, they have a great inside game for Tornike Shengelia and those things are very important for the flow of the game.”

On the other hand, coach Pedro Martinez stated that it was a tough game for the Spanish side: “It was a tough game for us. We did not start in the right direction. The intensity of Fenerbahce was much better. I am proud of my players in the second half. The situation was very bad for us, but I think that all my players fought and now we have to see what we can improve for the next game and be ready in 48 hours. We enjoyed the atmosphere and congratulations to Fenerbahce.”
