While the old guard of Rudy Fernandez, Felipe Reyes and Jaycee Carroll stole the show in Athens, coach Pablo Laso was satisfied by everyone.

As the Spanish coach explained: “Luka and Gustavo played great, they controlled the game, one from the inside and one from the outside. Nobody talks about Randle who gave us 13 important minutes when Doncic was in foul trouble. It’s easy to say things about players who had big numbers, but the most important thing is that everyone contributes. I have players who have experience, but this comes from a lot of battles. I also have players who are playing their first season in the EuroLeague and the most important thing is that the whole team knew how to play. Of course, I think Rudy, Jaycee and Felipe played a great game but now we have to think the next one”.

Speaking about the game itself, Laso added: “It was a different game from the other day. We were solid from the beginning. I told my players at halftime that I didn’t believe that we were playing great, but we didn’t commit mistakes. Without mistakes, we would be able to compete. In the end, we got an important win, but the series is tied at 1-1. We go back at Madrid, we have to forget quick about this one and start thinking about the game on Wednesday”.

However, the most peculiar quote came in the flash interview just after the game: “There is a Greek guy who has like a little store right next to our hotel who told us. ‘You look like chickens. You didn’t want to win or what?’ It was easy, but it was good. I think that we played with a lot more courage today”
