Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul defeated Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz in a tough game for the second time in two days, gaining a 2-0 lead in the series.

After the game, Zeljko Obradovic said the following about the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague playoffs: “Playoff series are very specific. So, the next and previous games are really critical. Tonight we tried to make some adjustments and try new things. At the start of the game they were up 0-6, which showed that they (Baskonia) were ready to compete. We started off lazy and we were not good. We should not start like that. But, I am very happy with how we reacted after a very bad start to the game. Going to Spain with a 2-0 lead is very important but we have to remember that we need one more win to qualify for the Final Four. Baskonia is a very good team as I have said countless of times.”

Fenerbahce‘s head coach also talked about the fourth quarter: “I was very happy about the way we shared the ball in the final period. We always found an open shot, it would not always drop but it is not a problem. It is really gratifying to be able to watch this. One of the hardest things in coaching is that you have twelve players who really deserve to play and you have to choose five. Bobby (Dixon) and Nicolo (Melii) really deserve to play. I’m very sorry that I have not given them a chance to play in these two games.”

Finally Zeljko Obradovic also talked about Jan Vesely, following his efficinent performance and Fener‘s fans: Vesely played excellent. He’s hungry to play well. I think that this is a very good sign. He loves to play and I hope this goes on. Our fans support our players in a wonderfull way and my players feel it too.”

On the other hand, coach Pedro Martinez focused on the small details: “A bad moment in the second half in our offense, we missed shots, and we had to be more passive. We had problems in defense and on 1-on-1 situations. They have great talent and it is very difficult to stop them. We need to play better on defense and rebound the ball better. General I think we did a good job.”
