Clyburn has emerged as a key member of CSKA Moscow, being on the same time a star and the glue guy of the “Army Team”.
Can the Russians return to the top? That’s the goal for the club and the American forward who is enjoying the best season of his career and he is ready to make the next step by sitting on the EuroLeague throne.
Did you have any American player in Europe as a role model while you were climbing the ladder in the old continent, first in Germany, then in Israel, last year in Darussafaka and now in CSKA Moscow?
“Ι can’t really say it. I wasn’t looking for a role model, I was trying to do my best and as you said to climb the ladder. On the other hand, my teammate Kyle Hines did the same in his European career and that’s a very good guy to be compared to”.
What’s the biggest strength of your game and which is the biggest disadvantage?
“I am good at anything in transition. Getting the rebound and run, opening the break, anything in transition. My biggest disadvantage? Nothing can be perfect. I can use some work and I will continue to work hard in order to improve”.
How do you approach the Final Four semifinal game against Real Madrid?
“I am very excited, I wish it was sooner than later. It’s going to be a great game, we will focus on what we do during the season. Everyone pretty much knows each other at this point. Whoever is tougher, whoever wants it more and keep his composure will emerge as the winner”.
Does the NBA remain one of your goals?
“It’s still a dream for sure, it’s out there, but we don’t know what the future holds. If I had the opportunity I will take it, but right now I am with CSKA and I am focused on the Final Four”.
Which is the best European country to live and play basketball according to your experience?
“I haven’t been to a bad country. I seriously can’t really tell you which one is better, we are blessed, me and my family to live in Germany, Israel, Turkey and now Russia.
Who is your MVP of the NBA season and your best five?
“Nando De Colo for the MVP, he had a great year. He led us to the top spot of the regular season. He is the motor of his team, scoring and keeping his focus al the time. For the best five, I can give the award a lot of people. Many guys had a great season. Nando, Luka (Doncic), Nick Calathes, Vesely who has been phenomenal and I will go with one more forward, Shengelia. Basketball is changing for sure, playing small ball is becoming more acceptable and more of an advantage to anyone”.
And what’s your NBA prediction?
