BELGRADE – – Fenerbahce forward Nicolo Melli is well aware of how passionate his team’s fans can be but he was still pleasantly surprised by their massive presence in “Stark Arena”.
“This was unbelievable. Really unbelievable. I wasn’t expecting something like this. I’m happy we won also for them,” Melli told Eurohoops after the semifinal win over Zalgiris Kaunas in the EuroLeague semifinal.
Fenerbahce defeated Sarunas Jasikevicius’ team with a strong defensive effort and by putting a lot of energy and physicality on the floor. Melli agrees that the latter was a key of his team’s victory.
“We controlled the game. We imposed our rhythm and aggressiveness. We handled the game well. It’s a Final Four semifinal. They tried to come back but we tried to handle it.”
