BELGRADE– Zalgiris Kaunas lost in the semifinal to the defending champions, Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul and thus will compete in the third-place game.

Coach Sarunas Jasikevicius stated that Zalgiris could have been more physical: “It was an interesting game. I believe the right word is ‘we were the more dull side’. The atmosphere affected us. I wasn’t expecting an amazing game, but we could have been better physically. They put a lot of pressure on our guards, and that affected us.”

Bobby Dixon scored 19 points and was crucial down the stretch for Fener, as Zalgiris‘ coach agrees: “During the end of the game, Dixon appeared as a really important X-factor. It was a big disappointment to us. We could have been more aggressive on the defensive end in order to stop him.”

Zalgiris, however, still remains ‘hungry’ for more: “I conguratulate my team. Our job hasn’t finished yet. We want to win the 3rd place game.”
