One of the best Czech Republic’s basketball players decided to hang up sneakers.

At the age of 38, Jiri Welsch felt it is the right moment for him to call it a day. And as his agency, “Sigma Sports”, announced the veteran forward is retiring from the basketball.

The Czech’s career started in Olimpija back in 2001 before moving to the NBA in 2002 where he played for four seasons (Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks).

He came back to Europe in 2006 as he signed a contract with Unicaja Malaga. He also played for Estudiantes, Belgacom Spirou, CEZ Nymburk and Pardubice where he finished his career averaging 5.1 points per game.
