Zeljko Obradovic spent 13 years of his career in Panathinaikos, turning the Greek powerhouse together with the former owner and president Pavlos Giannakopoulos into a EuroLeague dynasty, winning five championship titles between 2000 and 2011.

Obradovic traveled to Athens from Istanbul in order to attend the funeral of the Greek businessman and basketball contributor, just hours before Game 5 of the BSL finals, in which Fenerbahce, the current team of the Serb coach, faces Tofas Bursa.

As Obradovic said on Monday: “He was like my father. I have big respect for him”.
