There’s going to be a “battle” between the two Turkish powerhouses for Scottie Wilbekin.

Fenerbahce and Anadolu Efes are interested in Darussafaka Istanbul guard and reigning EuroCup MVP Scottie Wilbekin, according to Eurohoops sources.

Efes has already been in talks with Wilbekin’s side since team head coach Ergin Ataman has the player on top of his transfer list. Fenerbahce will have to wait for the first meeting of the new board of the club (under newly elected president Ali Koc) in order to schedule their offseason transfer strategy, before expressing their interest.

While both Turkish powerhouses would want to acquire Wilbekin, the 25-year-old American guard is currently under closed contract with Darussafaka for one more season. Although the 2018 EuroCup champions are EuroLeague bound for 2018-2019, Wilbekin is unlikely to stay since there’s still an uncertainty regarding the club’s sponsorship status (and subsequently the budget) ahead of the new season.

Wilbekin comes off the best season of his career so far. He averaged 19.7 points, 4.8 assists, 2.4 rebounds per game in EuroCup under David Blatt, leading Darussafaka to the title and winning season MVP, Finals MVP and All-EuroCup First Team honors in the process.
