Olympiacos wanted to retain Ioannis Papapetrou, but the 24-year-old forward has informed the Reds that he decided to depart from the team.
Papapetrou, who met with Olympiacos‘ owners and the two sides discussed the future of the team, finally responded negatively to the renewal proposal which was made by Olympiacos for the next three (2+1) years and now he’s on to the next step in his career.
Panathinaikos is interested and made an offer. However, there’s interest in the Greek forward from other EuroLeague teams also.
Stratos Perperoglou has been offered to the Reds as a candidate to replace Papapetrou, due to the limit of foreign players in the Greek league.
