Klemen Prepelic joined Real Madrid a few days prior and in his recent interview with Real Madrid TV he talked about his teammate in the Slovenian NT, with whom he reached the 2017 EuroBasket championship, Luka Doncic.
Prepelic describes Doncic’s early steps in Madrid, which were tough for a 13-year-old boy: “Luka’s situation was tough. He came here at 13, he didn’t speak Spanish, his teammates weren’t so good. [Things changed] after becoming a first-team member; he really lived for basketball. He didn’t feel any pressure, he just played and was in love with this sport.”
The two Slovenian stars are close friends and Prepelic sought Doncic’s advice when Real Madrid showed interest in him, as he admitted: “I have to say that we learned from him last year that you have to enjoy the moment. You have the luck to play basketball professionally. We really became close friends, talked every day and I learned a lot from him”
