Baskonia is finalizing a one-year, $1.5 million (gross) deal with American swingman James Nunnally, according to Eurohoops sources.

Nunnally was exploring opportunities to potentially find an NBA deal before listening to offers from Europe. He ultimately chose to return in EuroLeague with Baskonia, the club that hosts the 2019 Final Four in Vitoria with major aspirations to qualify to the tournament.

Baskonia has been looking to add some extra firepower on its roster after parting ways with Latvian forward Janis Timma who signed with Olympiacos. Nunnally is someone who can shoot the ball with extreme potency (48/91 3-pointers for 55.4% in the 2017-2018 EuroLeague) while being a persistent defender on the other end.

Apart from holding his ground on both sides of the floor, Nunnally, a 2017 EuroLeague champion with Fenerbahce, also has the necessary spark in his game to keep up with Pedro Martinez’s high-paced brand of basketball.

Baskonia’s fellow ACB powerhouse Barcelona also expressed an interest to acquire Nunnally this month. However, it only remained an interest since no offer was extended to the side of the player.

Nunnally, 28, finished the previous season in EuroLeague with 9.3 points and 2.1 rebounds, averaging 21 minutes per game with Fenerbahce.
