Two-time EuroLeague champion Yotam Halperin announced his retirement from professional basketball at age 34. He will undertake a management position with Hapoel Jerusalem with which he played for the last five years.

Halperin retires as captain of Hapoel Jerusalem, the team he won the 2017 Israeli League title. Throughout his career, the Israeli guard also played for such clubs as Maccabi Tel Aviv, Olympiacos Piraeus, Bayern Munich, Union Olimpija and Spartak St. Petersburg.

It was with Maccabi that Halperin began his career and also became widely known in the European basketball scene. In 2004 and 2005, Halperin won the EuroLeague with the Israeli powerhouse and later, in 2008, he was also named to the All-EuroLeague Second Team as a player of the “Yellows”.

Halperin was also the captain of the Israeli national team with which he participated in six EuroBasket tournaments.
