The host city for the 2018-19 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four is steeped in basketball history, with fans in Vitoria-Gasteiz able to cheer on a consistently excellent team for nearly half a century. The Basque city – capital of the province of Alava – is a basketball hotbed like few other places. Its passion for the sport was reflected and reinforced by the construction of the outstanding Fernando Buesa Arena in 1991 and its subsequent expansion two decades later.

There is also plenty to enjoy in Vitoria-Gasteiz away from the basketball court, especially in the beautiful and self-contained old town, consisting of narrow winding streets, beautiful old buildings, and verdant green parks. Basque cuisine is among the best in the world and no visitors to Vitoria-Gasteiz will ever leave without fond memories of their meals in the city’s many award-winning restaurants. Great food and great basketball: what more could you want in a Final Four city, per EuroLeague.
