Memphis Grizzlies center and former Barcelona player Marc Gasol criticized how the “Blaugrana” handled the retirement of team captain Juan Carlos Navarro.

“The desire of all those who love him, and we are many, is for things to have been better,” Gasol said per Mundo Deportivo. “I think they could have done it much, much better in many ways.”

This isn’t the first time that a person previously affiliated with Barcelona says that the club mismanaged the delicate matter of Navarro’s retirement after 20 years with the team. Former Barcelona head coach Xavi Pascual mentioned that he’s “not happy” for the way “La Bomba” retired while former Barcelona swingman Alex Abrines commented that Navarro “didn’t deserve this.”

Marc Gasol began his professional career with Barcelona where he played from 2003 to 2006. His brother Pau was also a Barcelona player from 1998 to 2001, before signing with the Memphis Grizzlies.
