Jannis Timma explained the process of how he eventually signed with Olympiacos Piraeus in Latvia’s national team press conference: “Olympiacos showed interest in me, and in the end, the two teams agreed on my contract. However, before the process was completed, they did not allow me to talk to any Olympiacos player. So I did not even contact Strelnieks before I finally signed.”
Also, he stated that his national team teammate was the first to know about his move to the Greek team: “Of course, he was the first to know about my contract, but I told him after I signed for Oly. I could not talk to Olympiacos because I was not sure 100% I would go there. Indeed, until the last minute, it was not quite clear that I would sign with the particular side.”
