EuroLeague CEO Jordi Bertomeu said that Barcelona should play in a different arena than Palau Blaugrana as soon as possible since he considers the gym to the “worst” not in Europe.
“It is urgent that Barcelona leaves an arena that today is the worst in Europe and doesn’t allow them to make the most of the opportunities. It has huge limitations,” Bertomeu said to “Tu dirás” radio show of Rac1, per Mundo Deportivo. “I want Barcelona to have an arena that allows them to generate resources in order to be competitive without the need of the support of the football club.”
Barcelona will have a new, state-of-the-art arena indeed but no sooner than 2020 when the construction of the Nou Palau Blaugrana is expected to be completed.
