Charles Jenkins: “We’re a little deep in the hole”

Charles Jenkins talked to Eurohoops after Khimki’s defeat against Real Madrid and what he thinks the team should focus on at the moment in order to get back up.

Despite missing Alexey Shved, Khimki put up a fight against the reigning champion Real Madrid but lost in the end. Charles Jenkins talked to Eurohoops after the game and although he thinks they played well, a loss is still a loss in his book: “From the confidence standpoint, I think we did some good things, we played the best we can against a very good team on the road. But it’s a loss and it’s not gonna help us.”

He also admitted it will be hard to recover from the 1-6 start but it’s certainly doable: Baskonia had similar troubles last year but they made a stride in February and secured a playoff spot. But, I mean, we’re a little deep in the hole.”

Nonetheless, he has complete trust in coach Georgios Bartzokas: “Yeah, coach is the head of the snake. He has all the experience, he’s been in every situation.”
