Andrey Vorontsevich became the player with most games played (241) for CSKA Moscow in EuroLeague history and the Russian squad put on a fiery performance in 93-79 road win against Bayern Munich.

Cory Higgins led the charge with game-high 18 points along with five assists while Sergio Rodriguez added 12 points and eight assists. Alec Peters helped with 13 points and six rebounds.

For Bayern, Nihad Dedovic and Derrick Williams scored 14 points each while the latter had nine rebounds as well flirting with a double-double. Vladimir Lucic added 12 points.

It was a highly effective first half for both squads but especially so for the ‘Army Men’ who shot 9/13 from deep while Bayern, on the contrary, couldn’t find their shooting rhythm at all (1/10). CSKA had a 30-23 lead after ten minutes which eventually improved to 56-40 at halftime.

Coach of the German side, Dejan Radonjic wasn’t happy at all with the first twenty minutes: “We played soft in the first half defensively and they used every situation to punish us. And they had an excellent three-point percentage.”

Both teams kept the tempo and although CSKA’s shooting percentages fell off a bit, they kept the distance in the third quarter (77-65) and all the way until the end securing the win.

“We expected Bayern to react in the second half with the character they have as a team but we played a solid game in the second half as well and managed to bring another win.”, coach Dimitris Itoudis noted.

CSKA remained undefeated with a 7-0 record – along with Real Madrid – while Bayern stands at 3-4.
