Lo and Williams lead Bayern Munich to its first road win

The Bavarian club prevailed against Gran Canaria and proved once more that they will not be cannon fodder in this season’s EuroLeague.

Derrick Williams scored 18 of his 20 points during 15 minutes in the first half and set the tone early. Maodo Lo finished the job with 22 points and Bayern Munich got the 89-74 road win against Gran Canaria.

Despite the hosts’ effort who entered the last period leading by one (62-61), Bayern’s quality was evident and also their defensive focus down the stretch. Coach Dejan Radonjic players’ kept Gran Canaria to just eight points in the first eight minutes of the last quarter, getting an 87-70 advantage that decided the game and gave them their fourth win of the season.

Bayern led by 11 in the second period (36-25), however, Gran Canaria cut the lead to four at halftime (46-42) and turned the tables in the third period with Ondrej Balvin leading the way. He finished the game with 15 points and eight rebounds. Marcus Eriksson also scored 15, but it was not enough.

Bayern was better in every aspect of the game, Petteri Koponen (11 p.), Vladimir Lucic (11 p.) and Devin Booker (10 p.) also scored in double digits and in the end, they got the win without feeling any pressure. They simply shot better than their opponents, they defended better and got more rebounds.
