In the third episode of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague’s new podcast, The Crossover with Joe Arlauckas, a record-breaking passer and former competition champion, point guard Nick Calathes, tells the story of how he became the latest in a long line of iconic leaders for the most successful club of the Final Four era, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens.
Calathes, a surname that means “basket” in Greek, owes not only his heritage, but also his love of basketball, to his grandfather, who emigrated from Greece at age 19. It was his grandfather who helped instill in Calathes a love for the sport and attended all of his games as a kid.
