EuroLeague sanctioned three head coaches. for comments they made post games.

EuroLeague Basketball announced that Anadolu Efes head coach Ergin Ataman, CSKA Moscow head coach Dimitris Itoudis and Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos will have to pay fines for “statements” they made during post-game pressers.

Per EuroLeague.net:

Euroleague Basketball has announced the following disciplinary sanctions pertaining to non-compliance with article 24. 2 c) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code, which concerns statements made during post-game press conferences. Each of the sanctions consists of a €5,000 fine and the warning of a one-game suspension in the event of a subsequent infraction of the same kind.

The sanctions come under new disciplinary criteria related to public comments made by club members that were approved at the ECA Shareholders Meeting on July 5, 2018.

  • Dimitris Itoudis of CSKA Moscow has been sanctioned for comments made following the CSKA-Olympiacos Piraeus game on November 1, 2018, pertaining to Round 5 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season.
  • Ioannis Sfairopoulos of Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv has been sanctioned for comments made following the Darussafaka Tekfen Istanbul-Maccabi game on December 6, 2018, pertaining to Round 11 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season.
  • Ergin Ataman of Anadolu Efes Istanbul has been sanctioned for comments made following the EfesReal Madrid game on December 7, 2018, pertaining to Round 11 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season.
