Zalgiris Kaunas prevailed over Darussafaka Tefken Istanbul on the road with a 75-71 victory in Round 13 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

In this low-scoring battle, Brandon Davies posted a game-high 17-point performance (4 r., 2 a.), while Leo Westermann (12 p.) was the one to determine the outcome of the game with a crucial run in the last minutes.

Jon Diebler was the leading scorer of the hosts with 12 points (4 as.), while Ray McCallum also added 12 points.

The game was settled in the details, as both teams were reserved in offense for its entirety. Low-scoring percentages played a key role in the result, as both teams scored nearly 30% from the three-point line and roughly 50% from up close.

“We’ve got to play a lot smarter and then we can take the next step. We have a lot of good players on this team, some of them are not ready but trying to help out as much as they can, and in the fourth quarter we were really a team”, commented coach Sarunas Jasikevicius after the game.

Last-placed Darussafaka sinks further down to a 1-12 record, while the visiting side improves to 6-7.

Both will have to get past this game soon, as on Friday Darussafaka faces Khimki and Zalgiris hosts Maccabi Tel Aviv.
