Deon Thompson returns to EuroLeague.

Zalgiris Kaunas announced the addition of American forward/center Deon Thompson on a contract for the remainder of the season. The player is back in Euroleague following his stint with Crvena Zvezda in 2016-2017

Thompson, 30, arrives to the Lithuanian club from Spanish side San Pablo Burgos to replace injured center Antanas Kavaliuaskas. He’s expected to make his debut in the EuroLeague match vs. Fenerbahce Thursday (10/1).

Zalgiris will have another fresh face in the locker room, as the Lithuanian powerhouse has signed big man Deon Thompson until the end of the season.

Thompson, who plays in the Power Forward and Center positions, was brought in as a replacement for Antanas Kavaliauskas, who will be forced to miss at least 5 weeks without basketball duo to an upcoming abdomen surgery.

The 30-year-old American has been a key part of the rotation playing for 11th placed Liga ACB team San Pablo Burgos, as he’s averaged 12.5 points and 5.6 rebounds.

Throughout his career, the 6’8” Thompson has played a total of 90 EuroLeague games, representing Union Olimpija Ljubljana, ALBA Berlin, Bayern Munich, Galatasaray Istanbul and Crvena Zvezda Belgrade.

It is expected that Zalgiris’ newest purchase will be ready to gear up for the team’s match-up against Fenerbahce on Thursday.
