Olimpia Milano increases its playoffs chances with a victory vs. the Lithuanian team.

AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milano prevailed over Zalgiris Kaunas at home with an 80-70 victory in Round 20 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague, grabbing an important result for the playoffs race that places the Italian team to a 9-11 record.

The battle of the playoffs is going to be long and no team is safe, but Olimpia Milano managed to snap back from a losing streak and gain morale in this crucial timing where six teams are trying to get to the next round.

“We needed to find a way back to winning because my players deserved it, also over many problems we have now. They never give up. For us this is maybe one of the best victories. Not because of ranking or to keep playing for the playoffs; we are not looking at that now. But to keep competing with everybody for what we did until now over the injuries and over many situations that we have had until now. I am so proud of my players”, commented Simone Pianigiani after the game.

Mike James and Dairis Bertans paced the Italian side, dropping 17 points each, while Vladimir Micov followed with 16 points and six boards in this important result for the club.

The visiting side – that now drops to 8-12 – tried to cover some ground in the second half of the game, led by Nate Wolters (17 p. 5 r. 5 as.) and Paulius Jankunas (14 p.)
