Olympiacos head coach David Blatt admitted that Olympiacos may be in need of a guard, following the rout to Barcelona. A match in which the Reds scored just 55 points and tied their EuroLeague all-time offensive low for a home game.

When asked if the Olympiacos‘ abysmal offensive performance against the Blaugrana demonstrates that the team needs an extra player on the perimeter, Blatt answered: “It might.”

The Greek team struggled to make a basket with the sole exception of the second period 22’s points. According to Blatt, Barcelona was to be credited for maiming his team’s rhythm early in the game. “What hurt us was our extremely poor offense. They were aggressive defensively and took us out of our flow early and we never found our way on offense and chased the whole game. I can just say that we played a poor game, particularly from an offensive standpoint, and I have no excuses for that.”

Blatt also heralded some upcoming changes and modifications within the team that will aim on Olympiacos reclaiming its form.

“It is a tough loss for us and will force us to make some adjustments and do some thinking on how we can get back to the way we were playing basketball a few weeks ago. Tomorrow is another day.”
