The season-ending surgery for Vassilis Spanoulis was completed successfully.

Olympiacos’ captain Vassilis Spanoulis underwent surgery on Monday morning to repair the peroneal tendon rupture on his right foot. After a couple of weeks on the sidelines, the Reds scheduled the operation ruling out the 36-year-old guard for the rest of the 2018-19 campaign. With the surgery performed by Dr. Dionisis Hisas completed successfully, Spanoulis will focus on the recovery plan aiming to return to action next season.

In 25 EuroLeague games during the 2018-19 Regular Season, Spanoulis averaged 10.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists helping Olympiacos move towards the 14-15 W-L record. However, his team will try to secure a playoffs spot in the final Round without him. The Reds’ captain finished his 17th Greek Basket League campaign with 9.5 points, 4.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds per match.
