The director of the basketball section of Real Madrid, Juan Carlos Sanchez, touched on Gustavo Ayon via Real Madrid TV confirming the 34-year-old’s departure. “For personal reasons, he has decided to look for his future outside Real Madrid and Europe” he noted, per Marca.
Sanchez went on thanking Ayon for his contribution since 2014 and wishing good luck ahead of the next chapter of his career. The Mexican big himself recently admitted he will try to make his way back to the NBA, where he took part in 138 games between 2011 and 2014.
In his final season with the Whites, Ayon averaged 8.3 points, 6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 0.8 blocks and 0.8 steals per EuroLeague contest. He added 7.6 points per ACB Regular Season match and 6.1 points per game in the Playoffs.
