PAO, Maccabi, Fenerbahce, Milano to play in the 2nd “Pavlos Giannakopoulos” tournament

The “Pavlos Giannakopoulos” tournament will be held at OAKA for the second year in a row.

Panathinaikos OPAP Athens announced that the 2nd annual “Pavlos Giannakopoulos” preseason tournament will be held at OAKA arena on 21-22 September 2019.

The tournament is held in the memory of the late Pavlos Giannakopoulos, the legendary former owner and president of the club.

Apart from Panathinaikos, three more EuroLeague clubs will participate in the tournament: Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv, Fenerbahce Beko and AX Armani Olimpia Milano.

During the tournament, a banner in the memory of the late Thanasis Giannakopoulos, Pavlos’ brother, will be unveiled in the arena. Thanasis Giannakopoulos had been co-owner and co-president of Panathinaikos at the side of his brother.

Maccabi Tel Aviv president Simon Mizrahi will be recognized during the tournament for his contribution to the club and European basketball for 50 years.

Panathinaikos, Maccabi, Fenerbahce and Khimki Moscow had participated in the first edition of the “Pavlos Giannakopoulos”.
