Crvena Zvezda mts changed quite a bit the roster for the upcoming season and today (23/8) introduced three newcomers in James Gist, Derrick Brown and Lorenzo Brown.
Derrick was the first one to take the mic and he used the chance to give high praise to the club’s fans: “I’m happy to be here and play for a team with great tradition. I’m also excited about playing for great fans. I’ve played against them, and now we’re on the same side and I’m happy about that. My primary reason for coming here are the fans. They are the best fans I have ever seen.”
Gist agreed with Derrick and also talked about the rivalry between Crvena Zvezda and Partizan as he played for the latter back in 2010-11: “I’ve been in different situations since I started playing basketball and had the opportunity to play the biggest derbies in Europe. In Fenerbahce‘s jersey I played against Galatasaray, then Olympiacos – Panathinaikos… Here it’s Crvena Zvezda – Partizan whose rivalry I fully understand. That’s a lot of charge and a lot of energy comes from the stands. However, these aren’t matches I didn’t experience before.”
Last but not least, Lorenzo Brown expressed his impatience to kick off the new season, his first in Europe: “This is my first time in Europe. I watched videos of what the Red Star had done in previous seasons. I can’t wait for the new season to start, we’ll try to win everything and I look forward to it in advance. The reason why I’m here is the chance to perform at the highest level and the possibility of winning trophies, we will try to win them all”
