Barcelona head coach Svetislav Pesic talked about his players’ injuries after the away win against Crvena Zvezda mts on Thursday and heavily criticized the EuroLeague Players Association (ELPA) and its Managing Director, former NBA and EuroLeague player, Bostjan Nachbar. To be exact Pesic said among other things that Nachbar “is not normal”.
Euroleague Basketball has opened disciplinary proceedings for the Serbian coach’s statements following the Regular Season Round 4 match.
According to Euroleague sources: “Euroleague Basketball will not tolerate any lack of respect from any of its stakeholders towards any individuals or organizations, whatever the reason. Such words evidently fall out of the values of respect that the Euroleague Basketball and its clubs firmly promote and stand for.
Moreover, the decisions that Coach Pesic is questioning have been discussed and approved by all EuroLeague clubs, following the proposals shared between the clubs and the EuroLeague players association. In the 21st Century such negotiations and agreements are common in every business between employers and employees, are fully supported by all EuroLeague shareholders.”
