Real Madrid fought hard in Berlin and grabbed an 85-71 victory against hosts ALBA for Round 6 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague. The Spanish team is back to the winning course, after facing back-to-back defeats in the previous three rounds.

This victory was a team effort for Pablo Laso’s squad, paced by Anthony Randolph, Usman Garuba and Sergio Llull who all ended the game with 12 points each. Walter Tavares followed with 11 points and eight rebounds.

The game started strong on Real’s side (28-14 lead at 10′), though up until the third quarter ALBA kept pushing and trimming the deficit, while also tying the score multiple times. It took a great defensive effort by the visitors in the final period to stop them and also put an end to the losing streak, and they did so successfully.

“We played a solid game”

Real Madrid got the job done and that’s the bottom like according to coach Pablo Laso, as the “Whites” have a modest 3-3 record.

“I don’t think we played a great game, but sometimes it is better to play solid than great. I am very happy for the victory after three losses in a row, of course, away from home. And today we play with enough energy to win the game. It is difficult when you are losing. When you are in a losing streak – we lost three games in a row – it is on your mind. Probably there were games when we were working well but we didn’t get enough advantage, we didn’t break the game, but I think this win was important for our confidence”, said Pablo Laso following the victory.
