The injury bug hits Zenit Saint-Petersburg once more, this time around Mateusz Ponitka. The 26-year-old forward from Poland will be sidelined up to three weeks due to a concussion, the Russian club informed via press release.

Ten games through his third EuroLeague campaign, Ponitka is averaging 10.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per appearance. His team is only 3-9.

On the VTB United League, Joan Plaza’s side currently carries a 4-5 W-L tally. The 26-year-old forward has 8.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest.

Marko Popovic on board

In other recent developments at the club, Marko Popovic was officially tabbed as the assistant GM. Popovic played under Plaza at Zalgiris Kaunas during the 2012-13 season, but his first post-retirement job places him as the link between the players and coaches.
