FC Bayern Munich grabbed its second victory in a row by beating ALBA Berlin 77-76 in Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Round 14, improving to a 6-8 record in the competition’s standings.

Vladimir Lucic paced the winning side with 19 points, while Greg Monroe followed with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.

“We’re really happy for sure. This was not just a normal EuroLeague game for us. Playing against ALBA is a derby game the last couple of seasons in the finals. So every game is a big battle”, said the Serbian forward.

On the other end of the court, Makai Mason posted a team-high of 17 points for ALBA that suffered its third consecutive defeat.

Bayern victorious in first EuroLeague clash

The two teams have a long history of playing against each other in the German League, though this was the first time they faced each other in EuroLeague.

“This is an important win because it’s our first win in the EuroLeague on the road. We lost all of our road games before this. In the end, they had everything in their hands, but we hit the 2 threes to send it to overtime. And there was the last shot”, said coach Dejan Radonjic after the game.

Bayern was in control during the first half, leading 30-28 in a slow-paced game. After the break, the hosts returned to the game with Giedraitis leading the way. Lucic was a major threat to ALBA’s defense, while Maodo Lo pushed the game to overtime (72-72) and played a key role for Bayern en route to the victory.
