Zalgiris Kaunas ended its nine-game losing streak in Munich with a 98-73 victory against Bayern for Round 16 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

Arturas Milaknis and Zach LeDay set the pace for the Lithuanian side with 19 points each, while KC Rivers also scored in double digits with 15 points. Thomas Walkup was also productive on all ends of the court with 13 points and 10 assists.

Danilo Barthel added a game-high performance of 22 points for Bayern.

Zalgiris ends this year’s EuroLeague games on a good note

Victory-starved Zalgiris entered the court and stormed the hosts right from the first period. Bayern’s answer came eventually in the second quarter, yet Zalgiris led 43-35 at halftime. Things took off in the beginning of the second half, as the visitors expanded their lead up to 23 points (68-45). Things didn’t change much during the final period, with Zalgiris keeping Bayern at bay.

“Sometimes, you have to look at basketball from the most simple perspective. If you hit shots, life is much easier for everybody. Everybody looks better and smarter. This does not mean anything for the next game. This is one win, the next game is the next game”, said Sarunas Jasikevicius after the game.

The aftermath:

The Lithuanian side reached its fourth victory (first one since November 1 against Fenerbahce) to improve to a 4-12 record, while Bayern falls to 6-10.
