Maccabi Tel Aviv signed American forward/center Jalen Reynolds to a contract for the remainder of the season in EuroLeague, the Israeli club announced. The deal includes an extension option for the rest of 2019-2020 (Maccabi‘s games in the Israeli Winner League).

Reynolds previously played with Russian EuroLeague club Zenit St. Petersburg. He signed with Maccabi to replace injured center Tarik Black.

Per Maccabi Tel Aviv:

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv signed Jalen Reynolds (27, 2.08 meters) to the end of the Euroleague season with an option to extend until the end of the season. Reynolds is a long center with good rebounding ability and experience outside the United States in Italy, Spain, Russia and also China alongside Aaron Jackson, the new point guard also joining the roster.

“I am very happy that we add a quality player to our squad”, said coach Giannis Sfairopoulos. “He comes to help us and give us solutions inside. I want to welcome him to the Maccabi family. For one more time I want to thank our owners for the extra signing of one more player. We are on a mission, we continue and he will help us in our journy”.

“I’m very happy to come to such a historical and legendary club”, commented Jalen Reynolds to maccabi.co.il. “The Maccabi jersey is well-known worldwide. I’m looking forward to joining ASAP and start working on helping my team-mates”.

Jalen Reynolds was born on December 30, 1992 in Detroit, attended high school in New Hampshire and played four years at Xavier College. In the summer of 2016, he signed his first professional contract with Recanati from the second league in Italy and immediately impressed with 18.2 points and 7.9 rebounds average per game. His good season was noticeable and in January 2017 he moved to Reggio Emilia from the first League.

He remained with the team for the 2017/18 season as well, providing 10.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in Eurocup. In May 2018, Reynolds was brought to Barcelona for the final stretch of the season and only played two games. Two months later, the center signed with Zenit St. Petersburg, showing a great season in the Russian team uniform.

In the tough VTB league, Reynolds averaged 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. In the EuroCup, the center played 24.9 minutes per evening, scoring 13.8 points and grabbing 8.1 rebounds. His good ability last summer led him to a contract in China, where he played with Aaron Jackson in the Zhejiang Lions ranks and provided 13.8 points, 10 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game. In recent weeks he has played at Stockton Kings, Sacramento’s G-League team (8.4 ppg and 6.1 rebounds).
