Howard Sant-Roos is set to leave AEK and join CSKA Moscow. The Russian club bought out his contract with the Queen for 500.000 euros.

The official announcement to confirm the deal is expected to be made within the next days, according to Eurohoops sources. Sant-Roos was inked until the end of the 2020-21 season with his contract including out options for both himself and CSKA next summer.

The EuroLeague champions had previously expressed their interest in bringing in the 28-year-old Cuban swingman. They were in the market these past months searching for a suitable addition following Will Clyburn’s injury.

The defensive specialist dropped some eye-catching performances since the beginning of the 2019-20 season. Averaged 12.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.4 steals per Basketball Champions League contest, also put up 9 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.2 steals per Basket League appearance.

His second campaign with the Greek club was cut short with CSKA knocking on his door. Last July had extended his contract up to the conclusion of the 2020-21 season.

Making his way to Europe’s premier club competition for the first time finds his new team tied for fourth place with an 11-6 W-L tally. Dimitris Itoudis’s club carries a 10-4 record in VTB United League as well.
