Real Madrid claimed the Intercontinental Cup after winning Bauru 91-79 in the second final of the competition. It was a must-win game for the “Whites”, after their defeat in the first match and, now, after their triumph, they can be proud of having earned all five titles in the last 12 months.

Pablo Laso’s squad had control of the game, however they managed to secure the win only in the last few minutes. Sergio Rodriquez’s disqualification in the middle of the second quarter made the situation more difficult for the Spaniards, who found decent solutions in Jaycee Carroll (19 points, five rebounds) and Sergio Llull (21 points, five rebounds, six assists). On the other hand, Ricardo Costa was the top scorer and best player of the losing team with 23 points, five rebound and six assists.

This was the fifth time that Real Madrid manages to become Intercontinental champion, with the previous four being in 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1981 respectively.
