The shocking story about Nate Huffman’s terminal decease got a sad follow up today in sport5.co.il. Not only the former Maccabi great seems to have accepted his fate, but he is trying to provide for his second wife and 6 years old son.

Meanwhile he revealed that his former wife has commited suicide and he has at best 12 months of life left. As he said: “I went to my oncologist yesterday. She told me I had six to 12 months to live. If I go through chemotherapy I could stay alive for 12 months and if not, then half a year. I don’t know what to do, it’s a difficult decision, because chemotherapy is very drying and it has side effects. From what I was told the cancer has spread fatally. I guess every now and then God makes miracles, but it may not happen”.

At least he has the support of his former team and the Israeli fans: “I appreciate the kind words and prayers. I am making an effort to respond to each and every one. I was invited in the game of Maccabi Tel Aviv in Chicago but I still do not know if I’ll be able to get there, considering my situation. I received hundreds of messages on Facebook in recent days. I received many messages of fans said they hoped to see me in Israel, who love me and miss me. I have not told my son yet about my condition. I’m going to do that tonight. My wife, she took it hard. She is a strong and supportive. She takes care of all the paperwork. It’s difficult, she does all these things and it’s not easy. I enjoy every minute with her”.

As for his ex-wife Jennifer, her fate was also tragic. As Huffman revealed: “Jennifer had committed suicide two weeks ago. She hanged herself. We lost touch in recent years. It’s very hard to believe that someone who was with you in a substantial part of your life and gave you a lot of significant things has ended this way. It did not make sense”.
