Zalgiris Kaunas got a key road win in the race to Top16 which may prove to be crucial in the final standings of the Group. The Lithuanian champions prevailed by two points 68-66 over Pinar Karsiyaka Izmir.

It was a game decided on the last shot as Renaldas Seibutis got fouled with 11 seconds to go and made 1/2 free throws. In the remaining time Kenan Sipahi missed the chance to send the game to overtime, Karsiyaka got the offensive rebound and Justin Carter missed a three pointer at the buzzer. With four minutes left the hosts got a 64-61 lead, but Zalgiris answered with a 6-0 run (67-64) and it was enough for them to win the game.

Captain Paulius Jankunas with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists was the MVP of the winners, Brock Motum added 13 points and 7 rebounds, while also Ian Vougioukas (11 p) and Oliver Hanlan (10 p.) scored in double digits. Kenny Gabriel was the top scorer of the losing side with 17 points and Justin Carter added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Τhe guests started the game leading after the first quarter (23-15) and had the lead for most of the three first quarters, but Karsiyaka was back in the game when it counted. Still the hosts couldn’t complete their come back with a win.
