A tradition which was build during the decade of 1990 was finally broken. Olympiacos, even without Vasilis Spanoulis and Matt Lojeski, beat Limoges on the road (76-67).

The French champs have been the nemesis of the Reds, but times have changed. The Greeks cruised to the win and Limoges managed the get a flattering nine points difference in the end, because Olympiacos led by 20 (70-50) in the 34th minute and then relaxed. Giorgos Printezis with 13 points led a balanced offense, Vangelis Mantzaris added 12 points and Ioannis Papapetrou had 11. Newcomer Shawn James was also used for five minutes.

Ali Traore and Leo Westermann scored 14 points each for Limoges, but Heiko Schaffartzik stole the show with a big half court shot. However this impressive three couldn’t change anything in the big picture. After all it was the first made three of Limoges after 7 missed attempts. Olympiacos after this win secured mathematically the top spot of Group B.
