PAOK made Olympiacos life quite difficult but Spanoulis’ quality made a serious difference near the end

By Eurohoops team/ info@eurohoops.net

Although PAOK came to Piraeus in order to face Olympiacos without key players Sofoklis Schortsanitis and Kostas Vasiliadis, the team from Thessaloniki proved to be a tough nut to crack.

The hosts faced some serious problems against their opponents, were horrible from the free throw line and could not stop Uros Duvjniak who did practically anything he wanted on court. In the end, Vassilis Spanoulis took it personally with some crucial plays that gave his team the win and kept it at the first place of the standings, tied with Panathinaikos at 16-1. PAOK missed a big opportunity for a mighty result, and fell into the 7th position of the classification (8-9).

Panathinaikos got the necessary win in Rhodes versus Kolossos (7-10), in Marquez Haynes debut, making the job easier in the last quarter of the match in order to remain close to Olympiacos, while AEK dominated Koroivos (6-11) to keep its place in the Basket League as third (13-4).

Not a problem whatsoever for fourth placed Aris (12-5) against Lavrio (5-12) as also for Kifissia (9-8) versus Trikala (6-11), after a fantastic record breaking offensive game for the Athenian team.
