It has been decided. Bayern Munich and Alba Berlin will face each other for the grand prize of the German Cup!

The first semfinal of the German Cup’s Top4 proved to be a very close affair, but in the end Bayern Munich thanks to Bryce Taylor and Deon Thompson, closed the game the right way and got the 86-79 win.

During most of the game the score was almost tied and the lead was constantly changing. However thanks to a 6-1 run Bayern got a valuable 80-74 advantage with Thompson finishing plays with strong dunks and Bryce Taylor having a crucial steal. Brose Baskets tried to get back in the game and thanks to a three by Nikos Zisis cut the lead to three points (82-79) with 16 seconds left, but couldn’t score after that.

Thompson and Dusko Savanovic were the top scorers of the game with 16 points each, Taylor had 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 turnover, Justin Cobbs with 9 points and 6 assist was also a key to the win, while Zisis was the top scorer of Brose Baskets with 15 points.

Alba Berlin and Fraport Skyliners presented us with a showdown that was meant to be decided in the very last moments. It was there that Jordan Taylor banged the dagger from behind the arc that send his team to the Final.

Things didn’t look exactly bright from Sasa Obradovic‘s team in the beginning, since their opponents from Frankfurt played intense defense that forced Alba to score only 10 points at the first quarter.

However, consecutive shots from downtown helped the team from Berlin to recover and gain a 6 point lead at halftime. Fraport fought back and while its initial efforts didn’t bear fruits, they remained persistent.

During the fourth quarter they caught up with their opponents and even reclaimed the lead. Alba got ahead again only to see Jordan Theodore tie the game with a 3point shot 12 seconds before the final buzzer. But Jordan Taylor took matters into his own hands… and the rest was history.
